German Court Denies Injunction Against Meta’s EU Data Use for AI Training
A Cologne court has rejected a consumer rights group’s attempt to block Meta from utilizing Instagram and Facebook user data for artificial intelligence development. The ruling clears the path for Meta to proceed with its controversial data usage plans across European Union markets.
Meta announced in April its intention to train AI models using public posts and interactions from adult EU users starting May 2025. The tech giant emphasized it WOULD exclude private messages from this data collection initiative. Users will receive notifications about updated data policies and retain certain opt-out capabilities.
